Biking Equipment
Our biking holidays are guaranteed to be an experience you'll never forget! With your guide you'll experience the true extent of Cyprus's diverse and picturesque landscape and come away with a real sense of fulfilment that lounging on the beach or poolside reading simply cannot compete with. Biking is a physically exerting activity on its own so you probably won't want to overload yourself with unnecessary accessories when you hit the road-after all, you'll want to have enough energy to appreciate the truly awesome views, and leaving things you don't need in our luxury accommodation might just make some of the hill climbs a little easier! Unsure about what is strictly 'necessary' to take with you once you embark on this memorable adventure? Below are the most important biking accompaniments:
- Bike- Obviously you'll need a bike. You can bring your own or you can hire one from our range of quality mountain bikes.
- Spares and Repairs-Inner tubes, puncture kits and pumps should be taken with you just in case. Your guide will also carry some spares but for piece of mind it's best to take your own as well.
- Clothing- This doesn't have to be expensive cycling gear; lightweight t-shirts, shorts and trainers will more than suffice. However, if you are looking to invest in specialist cycling attire the most valuable would probably be a good pair of padded cycle shorts.
- Sun cream- An absolute must in the Cypriot climate, the last thing you'll want after a hard day's riding is for sunburn to spoil your relaxation time.
- Hydration- Water is imperative when you're out on the trail in the Cyprus heat. We do provide water bottles but if you have your own hydration packs it is well worth bringing them along.
- Mobile phone- It's always handy to take your mobile with you, just for piece of mind should the unexpected occur, and particularly if you're travelling alone and without a guide. These days most mobiles come equipped with pretty decent built-in cameras which means you can leave that in your room till the evening too. They're also great for sharing with friends and family back home that unique moment after you've scaled a difficult piece of terrain. Different mobile networks have varying rates for sending picture messages whilst abroad - Vodafone for instance offer a great service where you have the option of sending your individual pictures as a postcard to those back home! See their online shop for mobile phone deals.
- A small rucksack- If it's small it won't hinder your ride and you can still cram it with spare clothing, refreshments and the like.
These are a guide to the essentials you'll need for your biking extravaganza-there's nothing stopping you from taking more things out on the road with you but chances are you'll be enjoying yourself too much to make use of them!
